Projects
Gold Medal Garden
I was commissioned by Horticap to integrate a dry stone wall into their show garden at the 150th Great Yorkshire Show, one of the UK’s premier countryside events. Working with the Head Gardener and Artist I designed a wall and path which complemented the cottage garden feature.

Preparation
Building dry stone walls indoors is not a regular occurrence, but under the glare of fluorescent light, the challenge was to build two retaining garden walls and a stone path that looked like they had been standing for a generation.
The dry stone walls, complete with imported moss and weeds, framed the planting area which displayed Horticap students work, and the path led the eye to the backdrop provided by Yorkshire artist Les Packham.

The Finished Result
Horticap were awarded a gold medal for their cottage garden and I was delighted to have played a part in this wonderful achievement.
